Use the output as a threshold, not a forecast.
A marketplace calculator is useful only when every rate can be inspected and changed. This model therefore treats the location preset as a convenience, not as hidden truth. Change any field to match the fee statement in your own Etsy payment account.
The result separates revenue, direct product costs and marketplace fees. That makes the break-even price more useful than a single generic ‘Etsy takes X percent’ rule, because fixed payment and listing fees matter much more on low-priced products.
How the Etsy profit estimate works
Order revenue equals the discounted item price plus shipping charged to the buyer. Percentage fees are applied to that revenue, while listing, payment-fixed and other fixed charges are added separately.
Estimated profit equals order revenue minus item cost, seller-paid shipping, packaging and all entered Etsy fees. Break-even item price solves the same equation for a profit of zero. The displayed break-even figure is an estimate when a fee cap creates a non-linear edge case.
At a 32.00 item price, 4.00 buyer shipping charge and the default US rates, the calculator includes the 6.5% transaction fee, 3% + 0.25 payment fee and a 0.20 listing fee before subtracting product, packaging and shipping costs.
Limitations to keep visible
- Taxes collected and remitted by a marketplace can affect the payment-processing base in some jurisdictions; this simplified model does not calculate sales tax, VAT or GST.
- Etsy fee schedules and currency-converted fixed fees can change. The rate fields are deliberately editable, and the included monitoring script flags changes on official source pages for manual review.
- This is a planning tool, not tax, accounting or legal advice.
Fee presets were reviewed against Etsy's official fee policy and Etsy Payments processing-fee table on 2026-08-17. Converted listing-fee examples are approximations and must be checked in-account.

Does Etsy charge its transaction fee on shipping?+
The current Etsy fee policy applies the transaction percentage to the total order amount, including delivery and gift-wrapping charges. Keep shipping charged to the buyer in the revenue field and your actual carrier cost in the cost field.
Should I include Offsite Ads?+
Use 0% for orders not attributed to Offsite Ads. For attributed orders, enter the rate that applies to your shop. The calculator also supports a fee cap.
Why can my Etsy statement differ?+
Differences commonly come from taxes in the payment base, currency conversion, country-specific regulatory fees, ads, refunds, listing renewals or a converted fixed fee. Reconcile each line against your actual statement.
